For over 54 years, BEC World Public Company Limited and Channel 3 have been at the leader of Thai media, delivering informative content and encouraging the contribution to social and environmental responsibility in Thai society to foster sustainable development.

Recognizing the rapid increase in plastic usage, especially single-use plastics, however, the proper handling of used plastic is limited, especially, PP Plastics which marked with the number 5. BEC Group and HMC Polymers, Thailand’s pioneer and the largest PP producer, have launched "A Million Hearts Paint Dreams for Border Patrol Police Schools" Project. This initiative aims to recycle used PP plastics into valuable new products which are watercolors paint packs.

BEC and Channel 3 invite the public to donate used PP food packaging, such as food containers, yogurt cups, frozen dessert containers, Thai rice noodle baskets, plastic cups, both clear and transparent or opaque, with or without printing. Before donating, just remove stickers and labels, clean and dry the containers, and separate clear and colored items. Package the donations in boxes weighing no more than 5 kilograms, address them to EcoBlue Limited (A Million Hearts Paint Dreams for Border Patrol Police Schools Project). Donors can send them via any Thailand post office free of charge or drop them off at the Lak Si Post Office in Bangkok and PP Reborn drop-off points (check Facebook for locations). The project period is until September 30, 2024. Then Thailand Post Company Limited will collect donated PP plastics nationwide and send them to EcoBlue, a partner of HMC Polymers and a plastic recycling company, to be processed into recycled PP Plastics. Nan Mee Industry Company Limited (or “HORSE” Brand of stationery) will then use this plastic resin pellets to produce 5,000 watercolors paint packs, which will be donated to the Border Patrol Police Headquarters for the benefit of students in remote Border Patrol Police Schools.

A portion of the collected PP plastics will be used to create the watercolors paint packs, while the rest will be recycled into new PP plastic, reducing plastic waste in the environment, promoting resource efficiency, and contributing to a circular economy. This initiative also aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and raise public awareness about proper plastic waste management.
