BEC World Lighted Out Its Building During the World Earth Hour
Earth Hour is a global grassroots movement organized by the World Wildlife Fund or WWF; it is for encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses around the world to take action on protecting the planet. The event is held annually and involves people from over 190 countries and territories or over 7,000 cities around the world. Originally starting as a "lights out" event in Sydney, Australia in 2007, Earth Hour has evolved to encompass a wider range of activities beyond simply turning off lights for an hour, to inspire individuals and organizations worldwide to drive themselves to conserve the environment.
In Thailand, the activity started since 2008, and up until now Thailand has reduced electrical consumption by 22,512 Megawatts and has cut Carbon-dioxide emission for 12,260 Tons. The amounts saved from the six years of earth hour can save money for 81.14 M Baht and can help planting 1.23 million trees.
BEC World or Channel 3 actively participated the earth hours for years, and this year it turned the lighted around Maleenont Tower off during 20:30 – 21:30 hours on 23 March 2024.
