Channel 3 encouraged the new generation to build businesses out of waste through sustainable plastic waste management.
Channel 3, a partner in the “Public Sector, Private Sector, and Civil Society Partnership Project for Sustainable Plastic and Waste Management”, pilot area Khlong Toei District, supported the “Recycling Business Competition,” encouraging the new generation to increase utilization of used plastics which can be developed into the recycling business, and to support the BCG Economy Model or Bio-Circular-Green Economy Model. The model is promoted by the government for the sustainable growth. At the event, H.E. Senator Weerasak Kowsurat, was a Chairperson of the Committee on this competition. The activity is under the ALL_Thailand project which aims to develop a business model for sustainable waste management that will benefit the entire society, environment, and economy of Thailand.
More than 55 teams from across the country submitted business plans for this competition, and the committee chose 10 teams to compete in the finals on April 29th, 2022, at Helix Sky Garden, Emquartier Department Store. The winning team was GP2Zwaste, whose business plan was to produce masonry bricks from scrap plastic waste and industrial waste.
Channel 3 recognizes the significance of sustainable waste management. As a media operator, we operate the business as a role model for environmental conservation. As a result, we are working on a publication to support the waste management ideas of the new generation, as well as to raise awareness among Thai people about the importance of sorting waste at the source, which can create benefits and value, and ultimately lead to the sustainable management of plastic waste.
At the event, Nitinart Rachniyom (Oak), a Channel 3 news reporter, created a news column that was broadcasted on "Trendy News Program by Oak Nithinart" in Kankao Weekend News' program, to present local business stories of any occupations and opportunities to generate new income, and also created a Facebook live on Ch3ThailandNews at 3:15-3:30 pm.
